Research positions

09/2015— Research Associate University of Cambridge | Cambridge, UK
Since September 2015, I am a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the group of Ben Simons in the Theory of Condensed Matter Group at the Cavendish Laboratory in the Department of Physics and the Wellcome Trust/Cancer Research UK Gurdon Institute.
01/2015—08/2015 Research Associate Max Planck Institute for the Physics of Complex Systems | Dresden, Germany
From January till August 2015, I stayed at the MPI-PKS as a Postdoctoral Researcher to continue and finish projects started during my PhD in the Biological Physics Division headed by Frank Jülicher. During that time, I was also affiliated with the Center for Advancing Electronics Dresden cfAED.

2011—2014 Dr. rer. nat.
Theoretical Physics
Max Planck Institute for the Physics of Complex Systems | Dresden, Germany
From February 2011 till December 2014, I did my PhD in Theoretical Physics with Frank Jülicher at the Max Planck Institute for the Physics of Complex Systems in Dresden, Germany.
In collaboration with the group of Andy Oates, I investigated how the collective dynamics of coupled cellular oscillators and their interplay with signalling systems regulate the timing and the morphological properties of vertebrate segmentation. In 2014, I obtained my doctoral degree summa cum laude with a thesis on “Genetic Oscillations and Vertebrate Embryonic Development”.
2004—2010 Diploma
University of Heidelberg | Heidelberg, Germany
From 2004 till 2010, I studied physics at the University of Heidelberg. In 2009, I joined the Institute for Theoretical Physics to obtain my diploma degree with Manfred Salmhofer with a thesis on quantum many-particle physics and functional renormalisation of correlated electrons in quantum dots.
2007 Visiting student KTH Royal Institute of Technology | Stockholm, Sweden
In 2007, I went to Stockholm for six months to pursue my studies in physics at the KTH Royal Institute of Technology. In parallel, I worked as an undergraduate research assistant in the group of Ulf Gedde on the statistical physics of polymers.

02/2016— Organising committee Theory of Living Matter Group | Cambridge, UK
Since February 2016, I am a member of the Theory of Living Matter Group, a Cambridge-based initiative to build a network for researchers interested in theoretical analysis and modelling of biological phenomena.
From January to July 2017, I was the head of the organising committee.
10/2009—12/2010 Administrative Coordinator Research Unit FOR723 | Heidelberg, Germany
From October 2009 till December 2010, I was the Administrative Coordinator of the Research Unit FOR723 “Functional Renormalization of Correlated Fermion Systems” of the German Research Foundation DFG.
